I had been struggling with my weight almost all my life. I would find it very difficult to say no to sweets and junk food. I also suffered from PCOD, which is a hormonal problem has to do with irregular periods, which helped in the gradual weight gain. I had a very poor self-concept and would feel inferior, due to my appearance. In the last couple of years, I had even stopped visiting social events and going out with my friends, because eventually everything would boil down to my weight. I suffered through depression and social interaction anxiety most of my adolescent life, always in the fear of anticipation when the weight-related taunt or comment would be hurled at me. Previously, I had tried every weight loss option available like gyms, health clubs, power yoga, yoga, aerobics, nothing really worked or helped, and used to bounce back on the original weight I started plus some more. After being over-weight in my entire college life, which was embarrassing enough, I decided I want to be more confident and self-assured when I enter my professional life. I decided to take charge of my life, and underwent surgery in Aug’13. My weight before surgery was 120 Kgs, and have lost 54 Kgs since then my current weight being 66 Kgs. Today, my entire outlook towards life has changed, my confidence levels have gone up. Undergoing this surgery made a major difference in my life, personally and professionally. It is noticeable in the way people talk and treat me now. It definitely changed my life for the better.
